Leave of Absence

New Vision Institute recognizes that students may experience circumstances that temporarily prevent continued participation in their religious studies. A Leave of Absence (LOA) may be granted at the discretion of the Institute for legitimate and documented reasons.

This policy applies to students enrolled in the Institute’s religious instructional programs and is administered in accordance with the Institute’s faith-based mission.

Eligibility for Leave of Absence

A Leave of Absence may be considered for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Personal or family circumstances
  • Medical or health-related matters
  • Religious or ministry obligations
  • Other circumstances deemed appropriate by the Institute

Approval of an LOA is not automatic and is subject to institutional review.

Leave of Absence Request Process

To request a Leave of Absence, students must:

  1. Submit a written LOA request specifying the reason and requested duration
  2. Submit the request within five (5) business days of the start of the absence, when possible
  3. Provide supporting documentation if requested by the Institute

LOA requests are reviewed by the appropriate academic or administrative office.

Duration of Leave

  • An approved Leave of Absence is typically granted for a limited period
  • Extensions may be considered but are not guaranteed
  • Students may be required to resume studies at the next available academic term

Return from Leave of Absence

Students returning from an approved Leave of Absence must:

  • Notify the Institute of their intent to return
  • Coordinate with the Registrar or Academic Office regarding re-enrollment
  • Resume studies in accordance with the Institute’s academic calendar

Failure to return as scheduled may result in withdrawal from the program.

International Students

International students requesting a Leave of Absence are responsible for maintaining lawful nonimmigrant status in accordance with U.S. immigration regulations. Approval of an LOA by the Institute does not guarantee continued immigration eligibility.

Religious Disclosure

New Vision Institute is a religious educational institution operating under the religious exemption provided by California Education Code §94874(e). Leave of Absence policies are administered in accordance with the Institute’s faith-based mission and internal governance.
