Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)

New Vision Institute obtained SEVP Certification in April 2019, granting them the authority to issue Forms I-20, also known as the "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status," to international students who have been accepted into their educational programs. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) entrusted the school certification process to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which, in turn, delegated this responsibility to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

SEVIS is an online database that stores records for students holding F, M, and J visas and studying in the United States. The Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and/or the Designated School Official (DSO) at New Vision Institute are mandated to utilize SEVIS for the following purposes:

  1. Issuing I-20 forms to F-1 students: SEVIS generates the official U.S. government form I-20, complete with a unique SEVIS ID number. This form serves as proof of acceptance to Fullerton College and includes essential information required for paying the SEVIS fee, applying for the F-1 visa or change of status, and gaining admission into the United States.

  2. Maintaining accurate and current student records: The PDSO and DSO are responsible for updating student records in SEVIS to reflect any changes, ensuring the verification of their status, authorizing employment opportunities, permitting reduced course loads, and facilitating the transfer of student records to other institutions as necessary.
