All international students must fulfill certain responsibilities to maintain their F-1 status. Failure to maintain your F-1 status can have serious consequences, including potential deportation from the United States. To maintain legal status

all international student must:


1. Attend the university that you have been authorized to attend.

2. Follow the appropriate immigration school transfer procedure when necessary.

3. Maintain good academic standing and make progress towards your academic program.

4. Request an extension of your I-20 before its expiration date if you are unable to complete your academic program within the original timeframe.

5. Update your I-20 in a timely manner in accordance with immigration regulations if there are changes to your academic program or level.

6. Any actions such as suspension, dismissal, enrollment withholding, expulsion, or similar circumstances that prevent enrollment may have an impact on your legal immigration status. It is advisable to consult with an advisor at the International Center in such situations.

7. Submit an Exit Form if you leave your program before the designated end date stated on your I-20.

8. Keep updating your current and permanent address information within 10 days of moving.
